Phase I: Initial Device Setup (Security First!)
- Unpack and Verify Authenticity: Carefully inspect the packaging seals. Any signs of tampering mean you should immediately contact the official Trezor support team.
- Connect and Launch Suite: Plug your Trezor into a computer and download the official Trezor Suite application ONLY from the official website (wallet.trezor.io). Never use a downloaded file from an email or search ad.
- Install Latest Firmware: The Suite will guide you. Ensure your device is running the latest, verified firmware. This process is crucial for security.
- Define Your PIN: Set a strong PIN. You enter the PIN on your computer using the layout displayed on your Trezor screen. This prevents keyboard logging. The longer, the better—aim for 6-8 digits.
- The CRITICAL Recovery Seed Step: The device will display your 12, 18, or 24-word recovery phrase. WRITE IT DOWN PHYSICALLY on the provided cards. This is your master key.
- Secure Storage: Store the physical seed securely. Options include a home safe, a bank vault, or a metal backup solution. Digital storage is **ABSOLUTELY FORBIDDEN**.
🚨 WARNING: The Recovery Seed is the only way to restore your funds. Losing it means permanent loss of access. If someone steals it, they gain full control of your assets. Treat it with the utmost secrecy.
Phase II: Daily Login & Asset Management
- Connect and Open Trezor Suite: Plug in your hardware wallet and launch the desktop application.
- Authenticate with PIN: Enter your PIN using the randomized grid shown on the Trezor device. This method is the core of Trezor's security model.
- Enter Passphrase (If Used): If you opted for the advanced Passphrase feature (a hidden wallet), you will enter this *text-based* phrase on your computer. **Note:** This phrase is not stored on the device and adds extreme security, but requires perfect memorization.
- View Dashboard: Once authenticated, the Trezor Suite will display your accounts, transaction history, and asset balances.
- Sending Funds (The Final Confirmation): When initiating a transaction, the final step is always confirming the **Recipient Address** and the **Amount** directly on the **Trezor device screen**. This prevents malware from tampering with the transaction details on your computer.
